CLINTON, Iowa (AP) -- A man who set himself on fire while police were investigating a domestic disturbance report has died, officials said.

John Jacobsen, 47, of Clinton, died Thursday at University Hospitals in Iowa City, four days after he poured a flammable liquid on his body and lit a match, police Capt. Randy Meier said.

Police were called to a house on Jan. 17 on a call involving a no-contact order involving Jacobsen. While police talked to the victim, Jacobsen entered a back door of the home and engulfed himself in flames.

Officers found him in the basement.
