LANGDON, N.D. (AP) -- A fire destroyed an old building that was a landmark in this city's downtown.
No one was injured in the fire on Sunday, but the two-story brick structure was gutted.
``It is an old, brick structure - a landmark for downtown. It's still standing, but everything in the building is smoke, water- or fire-damaged,'' Cavalier County deputy Larry Platz said.
Platz estimated the Boyd's Block building was more than 100 years old. Firefighters battled the blaze from the early morning until afternoon.
The building housed six businesses and several apartments. Authorities say the businesses were closed, and most of the apartment residents were out of town.
One person who remained in the building alerted the fire department after seeing smoke in the hallway. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
