When the fire broke out, the homeowner tried to fight it with a garden hose. That didn't work, but she did make it out safely.

Neighbor Mitchell Seltz, "I smelled smoke at my apartment and I came out to see what it was. I saw the house on fire and the flames coming through the ceiling."

Georgetown fire chief Robert Bruin says when they arrived, the fire had progressed into the attic.

The fire began in the living room. The woman who lived at the house went to the hospital due to smoke inhalation she endured while trying to battle the blaze herself.

Fire officials are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, but believe an extension cord may have been involved.
