Fire Official in Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Pleads Guilty to Setting Fires

SUSSEX, N.B. (CP) -- The deputy fire chief in Penobsquis, N.B., admitted Thursday to setting fires in the community.

Frederick Vandebrand, 45, pleaded guilty to three counts of arson and two of break, enter and theft.

The break-and-enter charges and one of the arson charges were laid in January. The remaining two charges were laid by RCMP in a Sussex court on Thursday.

Vandebrand was remanded until sentencing March 17.
