Firefighters Save Veteran Tennessee Captain, Other Firefighter in House Fire

A caved-in roof trapped the two firefighters in the burning home.

Mechanicsville, Knoxville (WVLT) -- Two Knoxville fire fighters are recovering at home after suffering injuries while putting out a house fire.

The fire started at about 5:00 p.m. Wednesday morning at a home on West Scott Avenue in Mechanicsville.

Volunteer TV's Stacy McCloud explains, the two men-- there to save lives-- ended up needing a helping hand themselves.

"I've been doing it for 32 years. Started in 1973," over the years, Captain Jim Stephens has built up quite a collection, from the antiques to the toys, everything in this room symbolizes what he stands for.
