Friends and colleagues yesterday mourned the loss of a decorated New Brunswick firefighter who died when he rushed into a burning building to rouse sleeping residents.

A memorial of flowers and mementos to Deputy Fire Chief James D'heron sat outside the city fire department headquarters on Joyce Kilmer Avenue, where friends and colleagues gathered.
