A 39-year-old Union City man was found dead with his throat slit open in the bathroom of his Bergenline Avenue apartment yesterday morning after firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire that broke out in the apartment's kitchen police said.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said the death appeared to have been a suicide. The fire, he said, started from a candle left burning in the kitchen.
