Jerry Walburn, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Superior Court to a charge of second-degree arson for the Shelton warehouse fire.
The plea was entered under the Alford doctrine, meaning Walburn does not agree with some or all of the facts alleged by the state, but acknowledges prosecutors likely have enough evidence to convict him.
Under terms of a plea agreement, Walburn faces nine years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 27.
Walburn has spent most of the last decade behind bars for a series of fires. He has previously admitted to setting fires at the former Samarius factory in downtown Shelton in July 1994 and to setting other fires that month near railroad tracks, also in Shelton.
At the time, Walburn claimed the devil, through a Ouija board, told him to set the fires.
