JONESPORT, Maine (AP) -- A 42-year-old man and his dog were killed when a fire destroyed a mobile home in Jonesport, fire marshals said.

The blaze apparently started in a bedroom where Rick Sabourin was sleeping Wednesday after returning from work. Sabourin was a worm digger and had worked both tides before returning home; the fire was reported by a passer-by at 5 p.m.

Fire investigators examined the home Wednesday night and were expected to return Thursday to attempt to pinpoint what caused the fire, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.
