ATLANTA (AP) -- A young boy was killed and six people injured in a Tuesday morning apartment fire in northeast Atlanta.
Firefighters were called to the three-story complex around 12:15 a.m.
The child's body was found as firefighters fought the blaze. Six others were hurt, some of whom jumped from windows to escape the flames, fire officials said. Most suffered broken bones and smoke inhalation.
The victims' names were not immediately released. The cause of the fire was unknown.
Temperatures were about 25 degrees, which caused water being used to fight the fire to turn to ice. Two firefighters were hurt when they slipped on the ice. Another firefighter was treated for burns to his neck.
The fire displaced four families, Atlanta fire Battalion Chief Dennis Ham said.
