PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- An early morning fire in an apartment building led to the evacuation of several residents on Tuesday.

The three-alarm fire on Charles Street was reported at about 6:30 a.m.

The fire was in a hallway on the sixth floor of the 10-story building, which includes elderly residents.
