From the looks of the mangled wreckage it's surprising everyone survived this crash.
Authorities say a Chevy compact vehicle blew through a stop sign at the intersection of American and Temperance Avenues.
At the same time, a California Department of Forestry fire truck was approaching the intersection. To avoid a collision, the firefighter driving the truck swerved out of the way. That's when it rolled and flipped over, catching fire. People who watched the accident unfold couldn't believe their eyes.
California Highway Patrol, firefighters, paramedics and other rescue workers rushed to the scene. Fortunately, the passenger in the fire truck was able to escape and get the driver out before the truck fully burst into flames.
Authorities say the quick action of the firefighter saved lives.
Following the accident, witnesses say the 19-year-old driver of the Chevy compact car started to leave the scene on foot with the one-year-old baby girl.
He didn't get far though. He was soon arrested at the scene for hit and run.
