New Hampshire Emergency Crews Rescue Man Who Fell In Sinkhole
The worker for Energy North was making a delivery to a home on Pasture Road when he fell into a sinkhole. A 19-year-old woman in the area heard his cries for help and called 911.
Emergency crews from the surrounding area worked carefully to free the man. The more he moved, the deeper he sank. Rescuers were able to set up a pulley system to extract the man from the hole.
The home was just built, and the builder said this was the first time he'd seen anything like this happen.
"The hole's filled with sand, which acted like a sponge," contractor Steve Sebono said. "Water got into the sand, and it basically acted like a quicksand."
The man complained of being very cold, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.
