CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A house fire killed two people and severely burned a daughter of one of the victims, a Hamilton County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

Capt. David Hamby said an investigation of the fire reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday was continuing. He said the blaze on West Boy Scout Road in Hixson was apparently accidental.

Hamby said Patricia Holland, 62, and Robert Douglas Sweatt, 32, died from apparent smoke inhalation.

Hamby said Holland's daughter, Robin Leanne Peavyhouse, 32, ran outside after suffering ``some severe burning.'' He said she was being treated Monday in a hospital intensive care unit.

Al Rosamond, chief of the Dallas Bay volunteer firefighters, said the blaze started in a back bedroom and was contained in that room. Officials said there was no working smoke detector in the house.

Hamby said Peavyhouse got the attention of a passer-by who reported the fire.
