NEW YORK (AP) -- Police found a 72-year-old man dead inside of a burning car parked in Queens early Thursday morning.
Police and firefighters found the man, Vernon Crawford, after they extinguished his car, which was parked in front of his home on 150th Street in South Jamaica, Queens, said police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wysokowski. The car, a black Mercury Marquis sedan, was registered to Crawford, he said.
It was unclear whether Crawford died in the fire or before. Police said the medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
