GARNER, N.C. (AP) -- A twin tractor-trailer carrying chemicals overturned and caught fire early Friday on an exit ramp off Interstate 40. No one was injured, but the exit ramp was closed.

Officials believed the Overnight Trucking vehicle turned over as it rounded the curve of the exit to U.S. 70 from the interstate.

Both highways were open by late morning, but the exit ramp remained closed while the wreckage was cleared.

The truck was carrying a mixed load that included almost 1,280 pounds of model airplane gasoline in small containers.

Emergency workers arriving at the scene saw heavy smoke and heard explosions, Trooper S.M. Harrison of the state Highway Patrol said. The smoke forced officials to temporarily close the roads, but they were reopened after officials determined what type of cargo the truck was hauling.

``At the time, there was a threat there, but of course, fire command came in and got the fire extinguished and the spill under control,'' Harrison said. ``We've been told there is no immediate danger, hazard or threat to anyone in the area.''
