BILLINGS (AP) -- Firefighters doused a blaze in an Overpass Motel room Monday morning, only to find the body of a 45-year-old woman who apparently died of smoke inhalation, officials said.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 a.m.

Billings Police Lt. Joe Bryce said the woman apparently fell asleep while smoking.

Her name was not available.

She had been staying at the 42-unit motel for a few days and was using an attached garage for storage, officials said.
