CAMERON PARK, Calif. (AP) -- A helicopter crashed into a house located alongside an airstrip and golf course in this Sierra Nevada foothill community Wednesday afternoon, killing at least one person, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear if the person who was killed was in the helicopter or the house, said El Dorado County Sheriff's Lt. Kevin House.

The house was evacuated and there were no immediate reports of injuries there, said Teri Mizuhara, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Firefighters from the department found the house fully engulfed in flames when they arrived after the crash was reported about 3:45 p.m., she said.

House said there was ``a pretty large explosion'' when the helicopter hit the house. Debris from the helicopter also struck another nearby home, according to television station KXTV in Sacramento, about 30 miles west of Cameron Park.
