CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire is the first state in the country to receive a high-tech satellite communications system linking emergency responders and the Department of Homeland Security.

Gov. John Lynch announced Tuesday that the Homeland One First Responder Network connects more than 600 law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency medical services and hospitals in New Hampshire.

The system can be used to provide training in intelligence, managing incidents and emergency response. Lynch said in emergencies, officials will be able to use the network to communicate with emergency responders across the state.
