Robbins, IL -- A 29-year-old Robbins firefighter was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering possible heat exhaustion while battling a blaze in the 3200 block of Emery Lane.

The firefighter was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island for observation, but was OK, Robbins assistant fire chief Berttron Shaw said.

No one was home when the fire began in the single-story home just before 10:30 a.m., Shaw said.

The fire was contained inside a bedroom, which caused extensive flame and smoke damage and made the home uninhabitable, Shaw said.

Shaw added that the cause of the blaze is under investigation, but said it appeared accidental.
