WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) -- An auto repair shop has been severely damaged by fire.

Monday's fire destroyed the back garage of Quality Collision Repair Center and damaged an attached front office.

No one was injured.

Around 7 a.m., an employee turned on the heat in the garage and walked into the attached front office, said Hartford Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Leinoff. Shortly before 8 a.m., the employee heard noises coming from the garage and discovered the fire.

Several neighbors called 911.

The fire started when heat from a smoke pipe on an oil-burning furnace ignited a nearby pile of wood in the back of the garage, Leinoff said.
