DAYTONA BEACH -- Two died late this morning when an out-of-state power truck slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 4 near Daytona Beach and burst into flames, authorities said.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers on the scene described the victims as out-of-state electrical workers from Alabama on their way home after helping with Hurricane Charley repairs. 10:40 a.m.
The two victims were alive after the collision but were trapped in the truck and could not be rescued before it was consumed by flames, emergency workers said. The tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder of the Interstate at the time of accident. Investigators said they don't know why the driver of the power truck veered into the parked semi.
