A Shreveport couple lost a pet in a house fire today, but firefighters were able to save another one.

Bobbie Chaput was overcome with emotion as she held her 5-year-old iguana, named Hulk. A younger iguana died in the fire.

Neighbors who lived in part of the duplex smelled smoke coming from the other side. They broke in and attempted to put it out until firefighters arrived. Nobody was home at the time of the fire. The other resident of the house, Chris Griffin, tells Newschannel 6 everything inside the house is destroyed.

Fire inspectors think the fire started in the living room where a number of electronic devices were plugged into one socket.

Hulk is now being treated by a veterinarian.
