NICHOLASVILLE -- Six complaints alleging Jessamine County volunteer firefighters were impaired by alcohol have been dismissed.

Gary Sorrell, chairman of the Jessamine County Fire District, said Monday that there was no evidence firefighters were impaired by alcohol on or off the job.

``This investigation is closed,'' Sorrell said.

Fire officials in Jessamine County began investigating in June when allegations surfaced that volunteer firefighters were impaired by alcohol or drugs when they responded to service calls.

Former fire district chairman Mike Eldridge said the district received six complaints from district personnel and from citizens.

The fire district has about 60 volunteers who have other jobs but who respond to calls as needed.
