Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze at an apartment building for senior citizens in Northwest Washington Tuesday morning.

Smoking materials are being blamed for the fire in a fifth floor apartment at a Foggy Bottom senior citizens building. Seven people were evaluated after being led out of Saint Mary's Court. One firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
