FREMONT, Neb. (AP) -- A 35-year-old rural firefighter from Fremont is dead after a five-vehicle accident near Dunlap in Crawford County, Iowa.

Fremont Rural Fire Chaplain John Jacoby says Bart Kelly worked for Underwriters Laboratories and was on his way to administer a test in Iowa when the accident occurred Monday morning on U-S Highway 30.

Crawford County Sheriff Tom Hogan says Kelly was traveling northeast with a sports utility vehicle ahead of him and a van behind him. A semitrailer truck was heading southwest on the two-lane highway with a car following it.

Hogan says it was a complicated accident but appears Kelly was the victim of an accident that took place ahead of him.

Funeral arrangements were being made through Moser Memorial Chapel.
