Investigators are expected to interview more people Monday in connection with an alleged orgy at a Bronx firehouse, after the woman at the center of the scandal reportedly checked herself into a psychiatric hospital.
It has been widely reported that the 34-year-old Staten Island woman suffers from bipolar disorder. Her estranged husband told the Daily News that this is not the first time she has been hospitalized.
The husband reportedly says his wife has had sex with hundreds of police officers and firefighters since the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what happened last Thursday night at Engine75, Ladder 33 in University Heights. Originally, the woman said she was raped by several firefighters, but then she recanted the allegation and said the sex was consensual. However, the rape charge is now back on the table, according to published reports.
