GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A woman who rushed into her burning town house to try and rescue her two dogs was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, authorities said Tuesday. Both dogs died.

A firefighter suffered a leg injury battling the fire, which gutted the home, doing as much as $350,000 in damage according to Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department.

The cause is under investigation, but Garcia said it apparently started in the kitchen area.
