An FDNY captain who was found dead inside a seedy Brooklyn hot-sheet motel room last month was killed by taking a lethal cocktail of cocaine, heroin and Valium, The Post has learned.

The body of Eric Dailey, 46, was discovered by a housekeeper in a room at the Linden Motor Inn in East New York three weeks ago.

The city's Medical Examiner yesterday ruled Dailey's death an accident caused by "acute intoxication by the combined effects of opiates, cocaine and diazepam, which is Valium," said Ellen Borakove, the ME spokeswoman.

The ruling came as Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta announced the FDNY will start random drug testing for its 11,500 uniformed firefighters beginning next month.

Twenty five percent of all firefighters are expected to be tested each year under the plan, one in which medical personal will come to various firehouses and engine companies on an unannounced basis and request urine samples, sources said.

Investigators are uncertain how Dailey obtained the illegal drugs, or whether they were provided by a mystery woman who was with him at the motel. They also could not say how the drugs were ingested.

Authorities said Dailey, a 20-year veteran, checked into the inn on June 25 at about 8 a.m. with a woman who employees described as a "regular."

The workers also said that Dailey had previously frequented the motel.
