Two separate brush fires in West and South Miami-Dade ignited Tuesday afternoon, but did not pose a threat to people or homes, authorities said.
The blaze in the western end of the county started around 3:20 p.m. and had engulfed 320 acres by Tuesday evening, Duty Officer Suzanne Ethridge for the Florida Division of Forestry said. There were no road closures at the fire, near Tamiami Trail and Krome Avenue.
The other fire near the Monroe-Miami-Dade border -- at about Mile Marker 5 -- had consumed 15 acres by Tuesday night. Its proximity to a street prompted Miami-Dade police to shut down Card Sound Road in the afternoon, Miami-Dade police spokesman Randy Rossman said.
Neither fire posed a threat to people or homes, the Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue department said.
