BRISTOL, CT -- Three firefighters were injured battling a blaze at an industrial storage building at 33 Stafford Ave. Saturday morning.

According to reports, the fire was reported by several 911 calls from people in the area at about 6:30 a.m.

Fire Marshal Denis Pieri said the building was "involved" with fire when fire fighters arrived on scene.

According to Pieri, the building was owned by Harold Etherington Ind-

ustrial Components and rented by two individual contractors, Ben Benason and Al Lamarre, who stored equipment and business files for their wood trim and framework companies.

Deputy Chief Armand Lemieux said he called Tabbaco and Sons Inc. to assist the fire department by using one of their bulldozers to move heavy rubble and debris, which had fallen during the fire, in order to put out the "hot spots" of fire underneath.

According to Lemieux, three firefighters, whose names are not being released, were injured while attempting to extinguish the fire. He said all three were taken to Bristol Hospital for treatment of shoulder, wrist and back injuries.

After the almost six hours, the firefighters were able to determine the fire was extinguished, and they cleared the scene just before noon. The building was destroyed by the blaze.

Pieri said while the fire does not appear to be of a suspicious nature, it is under investigation.
