On August 17th around midnight a driver on Old Route 54 about one mile west of New Berlin, Illinois slammed into a van and injured several firefighters, according to David Crighton, a member of the Loami Volunteer Fire Department who was involved in the crash.

All of the firefighters at the scene were on their way home after responding to a hay barn fire.
