COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A fire truck en route to treat a 2-year-old in cardiac arrest collided with another vehicle at a busy intersection Tuesday, seriously injuring at least one firefighter, a fire department spokesman said.

Lt. Carl Lyman said the engine company was traveling at high speed through the intersection when the accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. A paramedic riding with the crew reported one firefighter had extensive injuries, and called for ambulances for several others.

While a winter storm had spread over most of the state Tuesday, Lyman said conditions were clear at the time of the accident.
