PHOENIX (AP) -- Scottsdale officials are considering expanding the city's planned fire service to other communities.

The Scottsdale City Council will discuss the terms it could offer to Paradise Valley, Carefree and Fountain Hills on Tuesday.

The private Rural/Metro Fire Department, which plans to end service in Scottsdale after June 30, serves those smaller communities, too.

The Scottsdale Fire Department is scheduled to open July 1.

No formal contracts would be signed between Scottsdale and other communities until at least July 2006, but interim arrangements could be made, said Scottsdale fire officials.
