NEW YORK (AP) -- Four people died in a fire early Saturday at an apartment building in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The fire broke out in an apartment on the sixth floor of 901 Washington Avenue in the Crown Heights section, said Firefighter Charlie Markey, a fire department spokesman.

All of the dead were found inside the apartment, but it was unclear whether they were related. The victims were described as an adult woman, a male teen and two boys. Their names were not released.

The fire started shortly before 3 a.m. and was under control less than an hour later.

The cause was under investigation, Markey said.
