NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Several people were injured after a fire broke out in a 12-unit apartment building on Friday night, trapping several families as the fire spread to the third floor.
There were no serious injuries in the blaze, which broke out at about 10:30, Fire Chief Steven Catanzaro told The Providence Journal.
The fire broke out on the second floor, and went to two alarms before it was mostly knocked down by about 11:15 p.m. Firefighters rescued several people trapped on the upper floors of the three-story building.
Three or four people were taken to the hospital. One woman injured her leg jumping from a window. The fire's cause was under investigation
