CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) -- Two people were taken to a hospital for treatment after a fire in a nursing home Wednesday, Capt. Steve Johnson of the Chesapeake Fire Department said.

He said 24 residents and two staff members were inside the Good Samaritan Home when the fire broke out shortly before 4 p.m. The building was evacuated, and several people had to be rescued, Johnson said.

Further details, including the seriousness of the two injuries, were not immediately available.
