DEPTFORD TWP. -- For the second time in less than two years, Fire Chief Michael Gallagher has been suspended by the township's board of fire commissioners.

Gallagher, who was suspended for four days in December 2002, was suspended again earlier this month by the commission for reasons board members and an attorney representing the board would only say were "personnel matters."

While no reason was given for the suspension, Attorney John Eastlack, who was hired by the board to represent it on this matter, confirmed Monday that Gallagher had been suspended during a special meeting Aug. 6.
