HOUSTON (AP) -- Firefighters brought under control within an hour a blaze that erupted Monday afternoon at a Ramada Limited Hotel near Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Houston Fire Department Capt. Gilbert Bennett said the fire broke out on the top floor of a section of the three-story hotel, then entered the attic and spread halfway across the hotel roof.

Two firefighters were injured when the roof collapsed. They were taken to a hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

About 100 firefighters responded to the blaze.

Ramada Worldwide spokesman Emanuel Naim said everyone inside the 128-room hotel was evacuated.

Shirley Allbritton, who was staying at the hotel with her two sons, said they weren't inside when the fire broke out about 3 p.m. but lost their belongings, including some Christmas presents. The boys, who live in San Diego, were visiting their father for the holidays.

Allbritton said hardly anyone was staying at the hotel.

``It was like a ghost town in there,'' she said.
