"When the Engine 2 crew arrived from Oak Hill Station, her feet were sticking out," Belliveau said.
Firefighters were prepared to use inflatable bags to raise the car, but were able to free the girl without them because of her small size, he said.
The girl, who was not named because her family had not been notified, was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster. LifeFlight was called because of potential internal injuries, but was not flying.
Instead, a LifeFlight ground crew -- composed of a doctor and nurse in an ambulance --planned to meet her at the Leominster hospital, Belliveau said.
"If they determined that her injuries are serious enough, they would take her to UMass in Worcester," Belliveau said.
The driver of the SUV, an unidentified woman, was also transported to the hospital.
"She was shook up," Belliveau said.
After the girl was freed, the ambulance containing her remained in the middle of Oak Hill Road as firefighters moved the white SUV from the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Columbus Street.
Also on Thursday night, an early evening accident on Lancaster Street in Leominster left a woman with a fractured skull and leg, according to police.
Officers and firefighters responded to a call of a pedestrian hit close to Mr. Mike's Mobile Station and Willard Street at about 5:40 p.m. and were still at the scene at press time.
"She was transported to UMass Medical and they are working on her now," Leominster police Sgt. Michael Ciccolini said Thursday night.
State troopers and Leominster police secured the scene, blocking the road off for almost two hours at the intersection of New Lancaster Road and Willard Street and on Lancaster Street.
