Fire Damages Maryland Hotel Under Construction

A fire Saturday damaged a hotel under construction in the White Flint area of Montgomery County.

WHITE FLINT, Md. (AP) -- A fire Saturday damaged a hotel under construction in the White Flint area of Montgomery County.

Crews were called to the Marriott Bethesda North construction site on Marinelli Road at about 11:15 a.m.

Fire was discovered on the top floor of the 10-story building. A fire department spokesman said construction debris was found burning in a single room at the rear of the building.

Flames were contained to that one room. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
