AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- An elderly husband and wife were found dead inside their mobile home, apparent victims of an accidental fire, according to investigators.
Sgt. Jennifer Mills of the Maine state fire marshal's office said Saturday the overnight blaze may have been linked to smoking.
The victims were identified as Wilbrod and Violet Veilleux, ages 83 and 75, according to Mills.
The investigation was continuing but Mills, supervisor of the fire marshal's central investigation division, indicated that authorities did not regard the fire or deaths as suspicious.
Mills said a fire call was received by authorities at 11:43 p.m. Friday.
