NEW YORK (AP) -- An 8-year-old boy was killed and his 2-year-old sister was critically hurt when a fire broke out in a Bronx apartment early this morning, authorities said.
The children's 35-year-old mother and ten firefighters were also hurt in the blaze, which started at about 7:46 a-m. at 3034 Kingsbridge Terrace in the Kingsbridge section.
The fire, which may have been electrical, apparently started in the living room of the apartment.
The children's mother was in serious condition, as was one firefighter who suffered burns to his hands. The other nine firefighters suffered minor injuries, he said.
The fire was brought under control just after 8-30 a.m.
