Body Found After Fire Destroys Residence in Iowa County, Wisconsin

AVOCA, Wis. (AP) -- A body was found in the wreckage of a residence destroyed by fire Thursday, authorities said.

The fire in the village of Avoca was reported at 2:47 p.m., the Iowa County Sheriff's Department said.

After the fire was extinguished, the body was discovered inside the home, officials said, and the victim's identity was not immediately determined. The residence was described as a total loss.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
