Nine people escaped a house fire Thursday morning, after authorities said the homeowner awoke and realized what was happening.

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) -- Nine people escaped a house fire Thursday morning, after authorities said the homeowner awoke and realized what was happening.

Investigators were searching for the cause of the blaze, which they believe started in the back of the home, then spread to the roof and the kitchen. No one was hurt.

Authorities estimated the damage at about $150,000.
