March 25, 2005 -- A thunderous bomb exploded in a car parked outside the Long Island home of an Indian family, jolting neighbors from their sleep and terrifying the quiet community, cops said.

No one was injured in the chilling 1:36 a.m. blast, but it was heard and felt 10 houses away from the home of Soodash Sackichand in Valley Stream.

The explosion totaled Sackichand's Toyota Corolla, scattering parts in different directions and spraying glass on his lawn.

The car's moon roof landed atop a neighbor's house.

Sackichand, 38, a financial consultant, his wife, a real-estate dealer, and their 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter were asleep when the bomb exploded.

Neighbors said they heard the Toyota's car alarm go off about 1:30 a.m.

The terrifying blast occurred six minutes later.

"If anybody happened to be in the vehicle at that time, it's likely they wouldn't have survived," said Detective Sgt. Anthony Repalone.

Cops said they were working on two theories
