A Saucier man is accused of setting fire to his estranged wife's home.
Harrison County sheriff's investigators arrested James Thomas Lago, 43, on an arson charge Monday in a case authorities said stemmed from a domestic dispute. The March 7 fire was in the 21300 block of Old Highway 49.
The mobile home, leased in his wife's name, was burned too badly for her to continue living there, said Sheriff's Capt. Ron Pullen.
The Sheriff's Department and a state fire marshal investigated the fire and determined it was not an accident, Pullen said.
Deputies issued a warrant for Lago's arrest two days after the fire and placed his name on a national crime information database.
Deputies received a tip Monday night that Lago was at a home on Olga Drive in Pass Christian. They arrested him on a warrant signed by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain, who set bond at $25,000.
Lago was held at the Harrison County jail pending a court appearance.
Arson of a residence is considered first-degree arson. The penalty is five to 20 years in prison.
