HUNT VALLEY, Md. --
Fire and police officials were called to the scene of a partial roof collapse at a hotel in Hunt Valley on Wednesday.
Baltimore County fire officials said that at about 2 p.m., one of two sections of a glass atrium roof at the Embassy Suites at 213 International Circle in Hunt Valley collapsed and fell eight stories. Officials said that the other section is still in place, but is cracked.
"I was down there when it crashed, and if I wouldn't have run, it would have crashed on me," said witness Faye Yemini.
Fire officials said no one was injured during the collapse, but one person suffered minor injuries running from the collapse. The entire hotel was evacuated as crews searched the building.
The Baltimore County building inspector and crews from Baltimore Gas and Electric evaluated the structural integrity of the building and said it was unsafe for occupancy.
The hotel has 220 rooms, and about 133 people were staying there at the time, according to Sky Team 11 Capt. Roy Taylor. Guests were allowed to go inside the building to collect their belongings.
The collapse happened just in time to crash a wedding set for 5 p.m.
"I was on the top floor, and suddenly I saw the whole glass ceiling fall all at once," said bride-to-be Esther Angyalfi. "We're supposed to have pictures taken here for the wedding."
The bridal party was relocated to a nearby venue that accommodated their wedding.
