WEST COVINA, Calif. (AP) -- A West Covina firefighter was sentenced Tuesday for stealing money from a firefighters' group to pay for visits to online child pornography sites.

As part of a negotiated agreement, Michael Brawn was sentenced to three years of probation and also was ordered by Superior Court Judge Mark Grant Nelson to register as a sex offender.

The judge gave Brawn credit for 30 days served and banned him from having unsupervised contact with children under 16, said Deputy District Attorney Ricardo Ocampo.

Brawn, 36, also was ordered to perform 120 days of work for Caltrans, pay a $1,000 fine and provide more than $1,000 in restitution to the West Covina Firefighters Association.

He was accused of forging the signatures of the association's president and vice president to pay for access to child porn sites.

Brawn pleaded no contest May 20 to a felony grand theft charge and a misdemeanor count of possession of child pornography.
