TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- One construction worker died and another was in critical condition Tuesday night after being overcome by fumes at a city sewage plant, Tulsa fire officials said.
Two ambulance employees and two firefighters were treated and released from a local hospital after also being overcome with fumes, said fire Capt. Hubert Rouse.
The two employees of L & L Construction were working in a pit area at the Tulsa City Sewage Plant, Rouse said.
Hydrogen sulfide in the area was twice the level considered dangerous, Rouse said.
The names of the two construction workers were not immediately released, pending notification of relatives.
Rouse said the investigation into the incident will continue Wednesday morning.
